We offer customizable soap making workshops, designed meet your group’s needs. Plan a workshop at the farm or at your location. Choose additional workshop content, such as lip balm or essential oil body sprays. Choose additional activities such as a walk around the farm.
Workshops available on The Wool Family Farm or at your location.
Additional techniques like rendering lard or making tallow balm.
Add unique activities such as meeting goats or sampling products.
What You’ll Learn
Our soap making workshops give you everything you need to know to make a solid bar of cold-process soap. You will gain a firm understanding of the entire soap making process, including:
- The definition of saponification, or the chemical reaction needed to create a solid bar of soap
- Ingredients needed for soap making
- The definition and significance of Superfatting
- Safety measures, equipment, and materials required, including preparing the work area, preventing mishaps, and using the proper equipment and tools for weighing, heating, and mixing ingredients
- The properties of goat milk, various fats and oils, colorants, and scents, as well as their impact on the resulting soap’s properties
Lastly, we will discuss the benefits of using animal fats and the benefits of specific vegetable oils

Our Location or Yours
Workshops are available on the farm or at your location. Off-site locations must have electricity, water, and good ventilation. Plan your date six weeks in advance, in order to allow us time to create that special batch of soap for your unique workshop.
Special Add-on Activities
Your custom workshop can include a special activity, making your workshop a unique experience.
For instance, a workshop held at The Wool Family Farm may include the opportunity for you to spend one-on-one time with our Nubian dairy goats or feed our Mangalista pigs.
Or, if your workshop is part of a group meeting or activity at your location, you can build in time for product sampling.
